What Is GPA?

GPA stands for Grade Point Average — a numerical representation of your academic performance on a standardized scale, most commonly 0.0 to 4.0 in the United States. Each letter grade you receive in a course is converted to a grade point value (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, and so on), then averaged across all your courses, weighted by the number of credit hours each course carries.
